Cambridge Pre-U Mathematics (9794)
The Cambridge International Level 3 Pre-U Certii cates (Principal Subjects and Short Courses) are qualii cations in their own right. They are acceptable as an alternative to A Level (or other Level 3 qualii cations) for entry into higher education or employment. Each individual Principal Subject is graded separately on a scale of nine grades: Distinction 1, Distinction 2, Distinction 3, Merit 1, Merit 2, Merit 3, Pass 1, Pass 2 and Pass 3.

The paper will consist of a mixture of medium and longer questions, with a total of 80 marks, of which approximately 40 marks will relate to probability and approximately 40 marks to mechanics. In addition to the topics listed, candidates will be expected to apply their knowledge of pure mathematics to questions. Candidates will be expected to answer all questions.

Cambridge Pre-U Physics (9792)
• Section 2: Questions related to pre-released material. This section consists of one compulsory 25-mark question relating to material released to candidates prior to the examination. The material will draw on the physics concepts from Part A or Part B of the syllabus content and will show how these concepts are applied in broad areas of physics. Candidates are advised to spend about 30 minutes on the section. Learning outcomes marked with an asterisk (*) will not be assessed in this paper. The pre- released material will be made available to Centres by the date indicated in the Cambridge Handbook (UK). It will not be sent to Centres in hard copy. The pre-released material will contain extracts from a variety of sources. Cambridge does not necessarily endorse the reasoning expressed by the original authors, some of whom may use unconventional physics terminology and non SI -units. There may be inconsistencies between the extracts in the pre-released material. For the examination, the pre-released material will be supplied to all candidates as an Insert in the question paper. Candidates must not bring their own copies of the pre-released material into the examination room.
